Liza Minnelli

I had done Garland, now I was doing her daughter. I was cookin'. My mind must have been somewhere else. The drawing was okay, I thought. Judy, would like it, I hoped, after all it was her kid. Loyalty to my first clients. I felt that was spin-off from the midwestern, Russian-Jewish, Chicago, training my father had given me, etc... respect, and all that. And, what luck - I would work with the world's most famous people! The ad ran in Variety and everyone saw it. My secretary announced that Minnelli's agent was on the phone. "Great Ad... except you misspelled her name!" I'll never forget that moment. I could say nothing. Time stopped in mid-air. Later, she had the song "Liza with a Z" written for her. It was a hit.
